Even "The Economist" is aghast at our political climate

Yes. Politics in the Philippines is a circus. Even The Economist says so.

annoyed.

I just saw the commercial from the Chiz Escudero camp trying to malign Manny Villar (by spoofing him) and accompanied with a tagline that goes something like - bago naman, para maiba naman. I just find it really annoying because it's so crass, and they're doing it on national TV, and seems to me as if they're belittling the position of being the Philippine president by simply saying "PARA MAIBA NAMAN". Whatthehell?!! For 6 years as Philippine president, we are going to risk our vote to "somebody new" para maiba naman???!!!! I don't think my vote is worth risking that much. Plus, they have to battle it out on credentials and what they have accomplished while they were in public office and not by diverting the attention through a smear campaign against one of his opponents.

It just really pisses me off.

I'm now on Twitter!

I just signed up on Twitter, out of whim. I'm actually not one to share what's happening to me everytime, but curiosity got the better of me.haha! I wonder who I should follow on Twitter, though.

QQ: Always take the opportunity to be courageous.

This night is very inspiring. My professor in Local Government, Professor Rowena Guanzon told our class, "Always take the opportunity to be courageous." In my 20-something years so far I believe I have taken my fair share of risks and big decisions. But now, in retrospect, I think I am not the same courageous girl anymore.

I have braved the halls of Manila Science HS (after travelling by bus from Bicol to Manila alone and this was when I'm in Grade 6) and survived. I have believed that the only university that I would have to graduate from will be UP - and yes, I passed the UPCAT and went on to have a degree (and met the most wonderful and truthful friends I will ever meet). Now I am risking 5 to 6 years of my life, toiling in law school, unsure if I'll pass the bar but still praying and hoping and (I would like to believe) working hard to be a lawyer, a good lawyer.

But I think, these same challenges have instilled in me that calculating mindset which pushes me to think of ways to compromise, or other means to do things not head-on but after some careful thought and, (thanks to my business classes), SWOT analysis. Haha! Weird, right? Is this the result of getting old? Of getting involved in various situations and learning that no, things are not as simple as they seem or appear to be? Then it does seem true that one gets cynical with age. But hearing Prof. Guanzon made me think about my decision- making process, and the things that I do and hope to achieve. I will heed her advice, and not worry too much about my future. I know I will write about my own success story soon, and inspire others just as law school (and people like Prof. Guanzon) has inspired me.

I won't give up. Never.

MAYHEM in SEPTEMBER!

Tagalized version: Baklaan sa Susunod na Buwan!

Yup.Baklaan na to! September will be hell month for me.Seems like all my subjects are extending their class hours, plus make-up classes galore! If you got a collective free time - for sure a makeup class will be scheduled for that.

Mondays - 6-10pm. One-hour extension from the original class sked.
Saturdays - 8am-12nn. (Jesus Christ! para na rin akong nag-opisina nito!) One- hour extension as well from the original class sked of 9-12.

Eto palang, naiiyak na ako.
Plus, there's Bar Ops every weekend of September.Wah.
So help me, God.

long weekend where art thou?

For August 2009, we had 2 long weekends which unfortunately, I never felt. Some of my friends are planning to go to Tagaytay. Some were even off to Palawan and go nature- tripping.

Aug 21-23: Tax midterms on the 22nd. Studied during the entire holiday.Got drunk after the exams and still managed to go home to Cavite (buti tulog na si Mama, di ako naamoy.wuhahaha!)

Aug 29-31: Puboff midterms on the 31st, holiDAY itself. Understandably, I would have to study Sat and Sun for that.

Whew. Lucky me. Not the noodles, alright. (CORNY!)
